DAZN ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE ACQUISITION OF FRAUEN-BUNDESLIGA INTERNATIONAL RIGHTS IN KEY MARKETS  

 

June 7, 2023, London – DAZN Group, the global sports entertainment platform, has acquired exclusive broadcasting rights to the Frauen-Bundesliga in five of its key markets: Italy, Spain, Japan, Canada and Brazil. 

 

Dazn will hold the rights for four years starting from the 2023/24 season until the end of the 2026/27 season and includes non-exclusive rights in the UK and across the rest of Europe, excluding the Nordics (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden), Baltics (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), Poland and Netherlands. As part of the deal, Dazn will deliver, through the German Football Association (DFB) broadcasts including international graphics and English commentary for four matches per matchday.  

 

The Frauen-Bundesliga is the top division of women’s football in Germany and has been the most successful league in the UEFA Women’s Champions League with 9 titles from 4 teams. The league is host to many of the world’s top players including German National team captain and Olympic gold medallist Alexandra Popp, Euros winner Georgia Stanway and treble winner Carolin Simon. In addition to recent FC Bayern signings Magdalena Eriksson and Pernille Harder from WSL winning club and The FA Cup champions Chelsea Women’s FC.  

 

The 2023/24 season will run from 15 September 2023 to 20 May 2024 with 12 teams campaigning for the title across 22 match weeks. The 2023/24 season is highly anticipated, following an exciting summer for women’s football, with many stars of the league playing at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

Dazn is the only place that German fans can watch both the UEFA Women’s Champions League and Women’s Bundesliga, to support this, the platform has recently created a FAST-Channel DAZN Rise, a free ad-supported channel. Dazn continues to show its unwavering support for women’s football, with its fast-growing portfolio of women’s football rights including the new addition of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). At the end of last year, DAZN announced that it had acquired the live rights for all matches of the Women’s Bundesliga for the German market from the coming season until 2026/27. 

 

Dazn also provides exclusive global coverage of the Finetwork Liga F – the premier Spanish women’s football league. In Spain, fans can watch Finetwork Liga F, UEFA Women’s Champions League, as well as the most important matches of the Barclay’s FA Women’s Super League and Vitality Women’s FA Cup through the Victoria Pack.
