DAZN AND VISA PARTNER TO PROVIDE EXCLUSIVE FAN EXPERIENCES FOR UEFA WOMEN’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE KNOCKOUT STAGES

LONDON, 18 MARCH 2024 – DAZN, the leading global sports entertainment platform, and Visa, a world leader in digital payments, today announced an on-platform fan activation partnership covering knockout stages of UEFA Women’s Champions League on DAZN.

DAZN FanZone functionality includes interactive features such as quizzes, live chat, and viewer polls – allowing fans to engage with the content and each other in real-time. These social and interactive elements add further dimension to the coverage, fostering a sense of community among women’s football audiences.

Visa and DAZN FanZone environment will focus on encouraging participation and engagement around the women’s game and providing fans with a fan community-led broadcast experience. Fans will be asked to send a message of support to a team or player. The campaign will be supported with Team Visa footballers sending their own message of support.

“Football is nothing without the fans, and whether in the stadium or watching from home, we always feel their support. This collaboration between Visa and DAZN will bring fans closer to the game and us athletes than ever before by building a truly global community. I am excited to join the FanZone to watch the other games in the knockouts and look forward to the messages of positivity we can share”, said Fran Kirby, Chelsea and Team Visa star.

Esmeralda Negron, Co-CEO of Women’s Sport at DAZN said: “We are thrilled to have a sponsor like VISA come on board to launch an interactive feature that connects and engages women’s football fans globally on DAZN. Our aim is to cultivate a global community for women’s football and with VISA’s support, we look forward to bringing this vision to life.”

DAZN, the Global Home of Women’s Football, are committed to ensuring audiences around the world have access to innovative and engaging features like live chats and chances to show off their trivia knowledge in quizzes and polls. Today’s announcement underlines the commitment to fostering global community as DAZN will produce dedicated Visa FanZone feeds, not only in English, but localised to the languages of the participating teams. This means that across the quarterfinals there will be feeds in at least seven languages.

On Visa’s sponsorship of the competition and their partnership with DAZN, Hannah Brown Co-CEO of Women’s Sport at DAZN said: “This collaboration is a testament to the extensive and unrivalled brand partnership opportunities that exist around women’s football.

“We know that there is a direct link between investment and increasing the visibility of women’s football, we look forward to working with Visa to grow and engage audiences on DAZN, offering them a unique and exciting on-platform and in-broadcast experience”.

Kim Kadlec, Chief Marketing Officer, Visa Europe said: Having invested in the growth of women’s game for more than 15 years, we at Visa know the importance that increasing visibility has for the sport at all levels, driving acceptance and future-proofing its success. We’re really excited to be partnering with DAZN for UEFA Women’s Champions League, and hope that it will enable us to continue building on the momentum gathering behind women’s football, whilst enhancing fan experiences and engaging new audiences across Europe.”

Alongside the community building aspects of FanZone, other elements of this partnership include extensive prizes up for grabs, such as a VIP experience at this year’s final in Bilbao, courtesy of Visa and UEFA, including travel, accommodation, and hospitality package to the match. Fans will have the chance to win other prizes by participating in quizzes in FanZone during matches. All audiences will have to do is take part in any quiz during the quarterfinals or semi-finals. Answering just one question, right or wrong, counts as participation.
